Fabrics & Linens: Lucy Rose

From Sarah:

British-born, Chicago-based designer Lucy Rose comes with a serious pedigree. She worked for John Stefanidis (incredibly, she assisted on a project for Wallis Simpson and Edward VII), but now she operates out of Chicago and specializes in wallpapers and hand-printed fabrics from some of our favorite UK designers, including Celia Birtwell and Florence Broadhurst. To see more of her interior design projects, go to lucyrosedesign.com.

Fabric & Linens: Vanessa Arbuthnott

From Julie:

Despite our modernist inclinations, we have a weakness for British rural design, such as this curtained bedroom featuring fabric by UK designer Vanessa Arbuthnott, available through Chicago designer Lucy Rose. In her own words: “One of my favorite artists is Matisse, who toward the end of his life cut out bold, simple shapes for collages. I used this method create Swallow Dive. The organic block print is reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts Movement.” Go to vanessaarbuthnott.co.uk; in the US, her fabric is available through Lucy Rose.

Shopper’s Diary: Farrow & Ball in NY

From Julie:

Our favorite paint company has opened its first retail store in Manhattan. Located in a landmark building at 112 Mercer Street (212-334-8330), the store showcases the entire collection of Farrow & Ball wallpapers and paint (including eighteen new colors). Sample pots of all Farrow & Ball colors are available to purchase.

To celebrate, the company has launched Mercer Street Red, a dramatic crimson paint available only at this location. Twenty percent of sales from the color will be donated to the Cardiovascular Health Education Center (CHEC) at New York–Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

Visit the company online at farrowandball.com.
