March 4th, 2008
From Julie and Sarah:
We share a genetic predisposition to ticking stripes, which are reassuring in their familiarity and somehow work beautifully almost anywhere in the house.
Below: Pottery Barn is currently offering a good selection of ticking stripe bedding, ranging from $25 for a pillow sham to $129 for a duvet cover; go to potterybarn.com:

Below: Ticking stripe bolster and pillow from matteohome.com, our favorite fine linen purveyor (founded, interestingly enough, by a 1989 Harvard graduate).
Below: 19th century ticking stripe pillow covers from Los Angeles–based East Meets West at 1stdibs.com.
Below: Ticking stripe fabrics by the yard, as well as reasonably priced bedding, tablecloths, napkins, and ironing board covers, at thelinenpress.co.uk

Below: Rivedoux bed linens from Libeco; 100 percent linen pillowcases ($43 to $68) and sheets ($280 to $420) at thelinenhouse.com:

Below: Ticking stripe bedskirts and boxspring covers, $48 to $78 at garnethill.com

Below: Vintage ticking cloth bolster; $395 at vintageweave.com.

Below: Ticking stripe bedding in ecru/light gray; £12 to £79 at toast.co.uk.
Below: Ticking stripe chambray Roman shade; $89 to $99 from landofnod.com.
