Fabrics & Linens: Helsinki Remade
February 22nd, 2008
From Francesca:
Canadian-born, Helsinki-based designer Elizabeth Salonen hand-prints antique and vintage linens with art nouveau motifs inspired by the architecture of her adopted city. Her Helsinki Remade series of tea towels is an homage to historic buildings and to old linen. “With this project, it’s about taking a piece of the past and applying it in a contemporary way—making a fusion between old and new,” Salonen says. 55 Euros at Design Forum Finland.
