Architect Visit: Lewis/Schoeplein
January 7th, 2008
From Julie:
The partners of LA firm Lewis/Schoeplein Architects worked for venerable West Coast firms, including Frank Gehry and SF’s Moore Ruble Yudell, before establishing their own practice in 1998. This Santa Monica kitchen remodel features a kitchen island made from Ikea cabinets in a finply frame with a CaesarStone top and laminate countertops. Nothing fancy, in other words (except for the custom mirror-finish ventilator hood, perhaps). But extremely functional and stylish; the owner painted the cabinets in a Mondrian-like pattern of Benjamin Moore Icy Blue and Branchport Brown, with walls painted in Swiss Coffee.
