House Call: Brooklyn Heights Remodel
November 5th, 2007
Several readers requested more photos of Francesca’s Brooklyn Heights abode (see her kitchen). Located on a historic block in Brooklyn Heights, the brownstone was briefly occupied in the 1930s by Thomas Wolfe. In the seventies it was divided into a dozen warrenlike apartments. Recently, Francesca and Marc, with architect Steven Harris (stevenharrisarchitects.com) and designer Lucien Rees-Roberts (reesroberts.com), restored it to its former glory.
Below: Custom sofa through Interiors by George and Martha (718-789-3190); small 1940s club chairs from 1stdibs.com; Moon Table with mercury glass top and steel base by Ochre at ochre.net; Eames aluminum office chair from DWR; pair of glass chandeliers from Vince Mulford (vmulford.com) in Hudson, NY; Hollywood Regency Lucite lamps, try eBay or 1stdibs.com.

Below: the view toward the dining room:

Below: Dining table made from two vintage Eames bases with a custom top by engberg design; sideboards designed by architect Steven Harris, and Eames molded plastic side chairs from dwr.com.

Thank you for showing us these beautiful photos.
Aesthetically comfortable, and I’m sure it is a comfortable place to live in.
If possible, could you let me know where you got the desk near the window? It’s very close to what I’m looking for for a while…

I know you don’t appreciate readers comments unless they are pure and without irony, but I do like this posting. While the townhouse is pretty and the architects did a nice job, the photography is amazing.

Yes, sublime. I am in love with this house.
I have forgotten the name and manufacturer of the coffee table in the attic family room/ playroom; could you please share it?
