Sometime in the second half of last summer, we started to see photos of an intriguing new inn in the Berkshires, cheekily named Tourists, popping up on our Instagram feed.

There are good reasons that creatives flocked to Tourists almost as soon as it opened last summer.
The hotel’s name was inspired by a “Tourists Welcome” sign that once graced the property.
Architect Hank Scollard and interior designer Julie Pearson (of Spartan Shop) were responsible for giving the ’60s motor lodge inn new life as a hip country hotel.
The lobby is housed in a 1960s ranch home that was stripped down to the studs.

The Sanford Suite features a large outdoor deck, a king bed, and separate living, dining and kitchenette spaces.
Every room has a window nook day bed as well as a radio tuned to a short wave FM station playing a Stirratt-approved mix of soul and folk.
