This lean house in a suburb of Warsaw is the handiwork of Marta Chrapka of Colombe Design. It's filled with her signature touches: dramatic doors, impactful deployment of color, sculptural lighting, and artful antiques, tailored for a modern and clean-lined aesthetic.

In the modern kitchen, Marta inserted some Old World style in the form of hand-painted blue and white porcelain tiles.

The kitchen has a sleek and sophisticated look thanks to stained ash cabinets and a black granite countertop.

The custom glass and steel door leads to the pantry.

Inside the pantry, a surprise: a stubbornly old-fashioned larder.

There were many memories built around this table, and the owner did not want to get rid of it,” says Marta.

To the left is the living room; to the right, a guest bedroom.

The guest bedroom is anchored by a large Art Deco armoire. Underfoot is luxurious silk carpeting.

In a corner, more old-fashioned charm.

Marta added red “piping” to the walls in this room to play with the architectural line created by the staircase.

The main bedroom was inspired by Polish modernism.
