Object of Desire: The New Korbo Rectangular Basket

Photography via Korbo

First created in 1922 as weatherproof storage for Swedish fisherman and farmers, Korbo baskets are hand woven from a single length of metal wire and nothing more. Behind the scenes, Korbo has been figuring out how to use this same technique to produce a box-shaped basket; now, they've finally succeeded.

Woven by hand from wire, the Korbo Rectangular Baskets hew to the same design vocabulary as the originals.

The brass versions will form a patina over time.

The new bins work well in a linen closet.

They also make good entry and mudroom catchalls.
