Kitchen Tour: The Sunny, Compact Cook Space of a London Architect

Photography via The Modern House

We love this compact 14-by-10-foot kitchen in the Peckham neighborhood of London, designed by architect Jonathan Nicholls and his partner, lighting designer Alex Randall, off the back of their Victorian home:

When the couple moved in five years ago, the kitchen was top on their list of rooms to redesign.

The cabinets are one of Nicholls’ “experiments,” made of engineered-ash plywood joinery.

A skylight funnels in natural light and offers a glimpse at the wildflowers on the roof garden.

A single wall-mounted shelf holds cooking tools and decorative touches.

A stainless steel sink with an integrated draining board.

One wall is fitted with steel and glass doors by Crittal.

The patio just beyond the kitchen has a surprisingly tropical feel.
