Kitchen Tour: A Minimal Cook Space in a Former Portuguese Fish Warehouse

A while back we profiled The Addresses, three minimalist guesthouses on the Coast of Portugal, (which we dubbed, then, “almost too beautiful to be believed”). Summer has us thinking, again, of Portugal, and so we’re returning to one of the guesthouses, Casa Dois, in a former fish warehouse in the port of Olhãu, to take a closer look at the stark, sculptural cook space, designed by Atelier Rua.
The guest house has a teeny tiny courtyard with a plunge pool, built-in seating, and preserved arched glass doorways that lead to the kitchen.

The eat-in kitchen has whitewashed open shelves, a long table for gathering, and a wood stove for cool nights.
It also comes stocked with Portuguese wines.
The white interiors create space for bright dashes of color, from ceramics and wild bunches of flowers.
A staircase leads to the private roof deck.
Up on the roof is a second mini kitchen, with sink, mini bar, and “expansive views of the city and Ria Formosa.”
