Kitchen of the Week: Tiny Kitchens from Japan, Micro Apartment Edition
Spotted recently: impossibly tiny kitchens from Japanese company Sanwa, designed for micro living, each fitted with the basics: a sink, cooktop, counter space, and storage.
The compact but no less vibrant AM 01 Kitchen, designed by Atelier Mendini for Sanwa Company, fits in a two-doored cabinet.
Above L: The trolley-like QB 01 Kitchen by Bestetti Associati for Sanwa Company has “flexibility, movement, functionality, and essentiality” as its central concepts.
Sanwa exhibited the new all-in-one kitchen designs at “The Impact of Compact” at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2018.
Another view of the Ceragino, with its exceptionally small footprint.
The Pattina has a matte black frame and wood-clad front.
According to the company, “The design that leaves space between the floor and cabinet expresses a sophisticated delicacy and levitating lightness.” The Pattina, like many of the designs, has Italian ceramic tile counters.
A stainless-steel version, the Grad45, has “a stylish sink with sharp corners” and special attention to the fastenings and edges.
And a complete kitchen that mounts on the wall: the SC01 compact kitchen.
