Inside Soap & Salvation, a Concept Store in Rye, East Sussex

On a recent visit to the medieval citadel of Rye in East Sussex, we were heading out of town when we caught sight of a whitewashed chapel with a sign reading Soap & Salvation. We ducked inside and this is what we found:

The soaring interiors were originally built for the Salvation Army in 1903; today, they have been re-imagined as a shop by co-founders Jo and Barrie McPherson.

A pair of Cecil Bacon beech bentwood Jigsaw chairs from the 1960s (£220 the pair).

The stoneware relief modeled as a stylized head sculpted is by Professor Tim Threlfall in 1987.

A selection of vintage blankets from Wales, Scotland and the Rhodope Mountains in southeastern Europe.
