Holidays 2021: Stockings in Bold, Bright Hues

Hung by the chimney, stockings add a sense of anticipation and festivity during the holidays. That’s particularly true of the sophisticated collection we’re noting this year, some maximalist and patterned, many made from scrap fabric or re-used blankets, all in saturated, vibrant hues—a compelling case for moving beyond the standard red and green.

Rough Linen’s minimalist, 100 percent Linen Stockings come in nine hues, including “Orchid (shown). They’re $29 each.

An offering from St. Frank: the Gold Otomí Holiday Stocking ($195), inspired by the embroidery of the Otomí artisans of central Mexico.

The Global Printed Stocking is a collaboration between Justina Blakeney of Jungalow and Target; $20 each.

UK-based The Hawthorn Co. makes stockings from “pre-loved” fabrics; this is their Traditional Velvet Christmas Stocking with Liberty ‘Wilstshire Berry’ ($43.85).

Zero-Waste Linen Stockings by Lithuanian maker MStyle Clothing on Etsy are all made from dressmaking scraps; $31.15 each.
