Gift Guide 2022: Finds for the Hanukkah Table

Ceremonial objects don’t have to be grandmotherly to be meaningful. In time for Hanukkah this year—which starts on Sunday, December 18 and ends Monday, December 26—some observant designers have come out with lively new takes on Judaica for the Sabbath and holiday table. Here are some favorites.

Judaica Standard Time, a disruptor out to introduce style and playfulness to the Jewish table, offers a small line of designs, such as this handmade pair of spattered Shabbat JST x Lucy Michel Candesticks; $90.

The Via Maris Kiddush Cup, $85, is made of borosilicate glass and has alternating colors along the rim: Blue and Blanc shown, three other combinations available.

Brooklyn ceramic artist Isabel Halley makes stylish wares with the Jewish table in mind, including these bright Wine Cups, $185 for a set of four. Photograph by Lawrence Braun.

From “clean, modern Judaica” specialists Via Maris, this new Challah Cover, $85, is made of French linen embroidered with an abstract pattern that “reflects the infinitely cyclical nature of Jewish life.”

Furniture and object designer Pat Kim initially made his tops from beech scraps and used them as finish swatches. A set of five of his Spinning Tops is $30 from Areaware.
