Design Sleuth: A Cane Rocking Chair in a Designer’s Summer Bedroom

Today we’re diving (back) into a favorite Remodelista story to excavate the source of one particular detail. The project? A Colonial House in Bellport with Uncommon Style from French Designer C. S. Valentin. The detail? A lightweight cane rocking chair in the corner of a bedroom.

The cane chair in question is in a guest room in designer C.S. Valentin’s Bellport house. We’re drawn to its minimal lines and visual lightness (thanks, in part, to the caned back).

Some sleuthing revealed the chair to be Ikea’s Grönadal. The bad news? It’s been discontinued since our story on Valentin’s place first went live.

While it’s hard to find an exact lookalike, similar rocker styles can be found all over the internet. This Black Cane Rocking Chair, for example, is currently on sale for $356 from Joss & Main.

And the South Shore Balka Rocking Chair is $334.99 from Target.
