Casa Três: A Minimalist Guest House in Portugal’s Algarve

Photography via The Addresses

Previously we’ve admired The Addresses, a trio of minimalist guesthouses on the coast of Portugal, the work of a pair of friends (a wine connoisseur and an art director) and designed by architects. At the time we first posted on the lodgings, the third guesthouse, Casa Três, was in progress; now that it’s complete and ready for bookings, we’re taking a closer (virtual) look.

Casa Tres, a former merchant’s house, is situated “in the furthest eastern point of Portugal’s Algarve, with Spain just across the Guadiana river,” in the town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

The guest house has a wood-paneled lounge area and three guest rooms, each with an ensuite bath, situated around a central courtyard.

One of three bedrooms, with white-washed walls and simple linens.

Another bedroom features a wood-clad wall.

Looking out at the courtyard.

The real gem is the central courtyard, an oasis in the city, redone with ample space for relaxing.

Clean-lined chaises offer space to lounge in sun or shade.

There’s also a plunge pool.
