Before & After: A "Not Too Brooklyn" Bachelor Pad in Park Slope, Transformed with Paint - Remodelista

Dan Mazzarini of BHDM Design was given a mandate when it came to a dated apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn: create a sophisticated and polished masculine retreat that was “not too Brooklyn” for the apartment’s bachelor owner, a book-loving lawyer with little time to fret about the details.
“The client left us alone, which was nice,” says Mazzarini.
After
The designers left the bones of the apartment intact but painted every surface, to dramatic effect. The vintage zigzag chair is from Gallery 429 in Greenport, New York, and the caramel-colored egg chair is from France & Son.
Glossy, dark grey Ikea Jarsta cabinets were fitted together “like Tetris,” says Mazzarini. He added bronze hardware sourced at Simon’s Hardware and Bath in New York.
A view into the master bedroom, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Kendell Charcoal. The designer made the ink-block artwork, and the abaca rug is from The Natural Carpet Company.
A moody vignette in the bedroom: The basket was a score at Brimfield, while the metal vase is from Clic Gallery in New York.

The bathroom features a stone-topped vanity from Restoration Hardware. Above it are Argon Sconces from Hudson Valley Lighting and a custom mirror.
Before, the apartment was an ode to the ‘80s, with track lighting, ceiling fans, and yellow oak floors.
Before
The designer decided to leave the bricks, but painted over them.

The bathroom had pink tile and unflattering overhead lighting.
