Description from Manufactum
This rebounding game is manufactured in France and goes back to the Basque “pelota” game, an old ancestor of Squash. In the 1940s and 1950s it was rather popular in England and the US, going by the unintentionally funny name of “cable tennis”. The ball is attached to a base with a 5 m long rubber band and is returned with a racquet made of beech wood.
