Kitchen of the Week: Country Chic in Sweden, Minimalist Edition

July 11, 2019

We can easily—and happily—spend an entire afternoon browsing residential listings. Recently, we came across a new-to-us real estate outfit to add to our short list of stalk-worthy online resources: Alvhem, a Swedish brokerage that, according to its website, specializes in apartments and villas “erected between 1850 and 1950 with many years of wear, renovation and love from their former owners.”

What led us to discovering Alvhem in the first place is founder and co-owner Sandra Guerrero’s own impeccable home. (We first spotted it on the blog Nordic Design.) Located an hour from Gothenburg, her house is surrounded by meadows and has views of the sea. But it’s the interiors—and the kitchen, specifically—that stopped us.

Below, Sandra shares with us how this minimalist country kitchen came to be.

She was particularly exacting about the right shade of green-beige-gray for the space, ultimately landing on Farrow & Ball’s Hardwick White for the bespoke kitchen cabinets by Nordiska Kök, and Jotun’s Tidlös for the walls. A length of peg rail warms up the palette.
