Just opened in September from hospitality veteran Sam Gelin: Made, a 108-room hotel in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan. Though a first-time hotelier, Gelin knows a thing or two about keeping people happy: He is the founder of event production company Craft Hospitality and has produced hundreds of food-and-drink-focused events for brands proffering everything from liquor to sparkling water and craft coffee. His new, pet-friendly hotel offers views of the Empire State Building plus a communal coffee lounge, a basement restaurant, and top-floor Tiki bar with panoramic views. For the interiors, Gelin partnered with designers Studio MAI out of Los Angeles, whose past work includes Venice Beach institution Gjelina. Together, they created a modern, global vibe for the creative nomad.
