Located near an apple orchard in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, Javornice Distillery is a cluster of community buildings—including guest rooms, a pub, and a dance hall—designed by architects ADR. We love the clean lines of the gables and the storybook palette of muted grays and robin’s egg blues. Take a look.

Above: Built around a cobbled courtyard on the grounds of a farm, the new distillery and remodeled farm buildings form a small, pastoral village unto themselves. Above: In the community pub and tasting room, the doors and wood paneling are painted in a muted green for an antique feel. Above: A study in sparseness and light. Above: With black beams and a concrete floor, the distillery itself is utilitarian. Essential tools hang from S-hooks against one wall. Above: Upstairs in one of the buildings is a quiet guest room with wooden platform beds and writing desk. The rooms are meant for guests from the nearby village, but we’re told that the family who owns the distillery might open their doors should you be passing through. Above: A compact woodstove warms the space. Above: In another attic room, a simple white mattress fits into a nook above the stairs. Above: A skylight, cut into the gabled roof, adds plenty of light.
