Danish Heritage: A Copenhagen Townhouse Renovated by Hand

December 24, 2018

Caroline Feiffer is a Danish brand designer (recently she worked with Frederik Bille Brahe on Atelier September and Apollo Bar) who thinks a lot about space. She lives with her husband, Steffan, a woodworker, on the top floor of a 1737 townhouse on the Frederiksholms Kanal in old Copenhagen. The flat is located in a narrow, 860-square-foot sloped attic space that Caroline and Steffan renovated by hand. They replaced the floors with bleached pine, painted the walls and beams tonal white, remodeled the kitchen, and sectioned off rooms with Danish, French, and Italian antiques (resourcefully sourced or inherited). Join us for a tour.

Caroline and Steffan remodeled the kitchen themselves, with white-painted wood cabinets and a terrazzo countertop. They equipped the small kitchen with as many integrated appliances as possible: a cooktop and vent hood, oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. On the stove is an Alessi 9090 Coffee Maker, designed in 1979.
