Since founding her eponymous design firm in 2003, Sara Story has forged a reputation for imparting to all her projects an ineffable style she can truly call her own.

Drawing inspiration from extensive travels, an active interest in contemporary art and fashion, and a rigorous lifestyle, Sara wields a keen eye to exact her aesthetic vision: crisp, elegant, and comfortable gestures that thoughtfully balance multiple elements of good design for an everyday, polished life.

Born in Japan, and well-traveled throughout the Far East and the western world, Sara has also lived in California, Texas, and New York. Sara earned a B.F.A. from the University of San Diego (who awarded her a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011), and a degree in Interior Architecture from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Critical acclaim of her townhouse renovation at Gramercy Park propelled Sara onto the design world’s radar, and Elle Décor magazine named Sara one of the “Top Five to Watch in 2011.”

In 2012, Sara launched her first product line, Sara Story Design Wallpaper, which was inspired by her travels and love of Asian design. Sara is currently completing her second line of wallpaper and first fabric collection, which will be available through Holland & Sherry.

Sara continues to lead her firm fearlessly and with grace, and always with her signature laughter. Always dynamic, the firm continues to work on residential and commercial projects worldwide.
