In the past, baskets were often painted to enhance their appearance. Sometimes however, paint was used structurally as a last effort to extend the life of a valued, old basket.

I have created a selection of baskets which I feel are most appropriate to a painted finish. They can, of course, also be left with a natural wood finish, and likewise my selection of natural wood baskets can be painted.

My paints are made from a casein base with mineral pigments. They are non toxic and durable. Applied in layers, the basket is finished with linseed oil creating an aged mellow patina.

Many colors and combinations of colors are available. I often paint in different colors the interior - exterior, or basket and rim. I can provide color samples or reproduce a sample that you provide.
