A modern-day Greek taverna is the newest arrival on a bustling inner Sydney block, with award-winning design by interior architect George Livissianis.
Located in Potts Point, The Apollo is a new venture from restaurateur Sam Christie (of Longrain fame) and head chef Jonathan Barthelmess (formerly of Manly Pavilion and Coast). Open and bright with an abundance of natural light and mirrors, the space is glamorous but low-key.
The building's interior has been stripped back to reveal intricate cornices and concrete beams, reminiscent of the ruins you might find on the rocky landscape of the Greek islands. With its arched windows, exposed walls, luminous tiled floor, and desaturated palette set off by the occasional dash of pink, you could be in an Athens old town bar. If it'd had a modern fit-out.
