Designer Visit: Zack | de Vito in San Francisco

Issue · · March 6, 2011

A new addition to the Remodelista Architect/Designer Directory: San Francisco-based firm Zack | de Vito, a husband/wife partnership founded by Jim Zack (a graduate of Berkeley's architecture program) and Lise de Vito (a graduate of RISD's architecture school). We especially like the firm's portfolio of Bay Area restaurants; to see more work, go to Zack | de Vito.

Above: For Delarosa in the Marina District of San Francisco, the architects commissioned custom communal tables and used simple pendant fixtures.

Above: Zack | de Vito hewed to a simple color palette or grays and teals, punctuated by touches of orange.

Above: The long communal tables add a note of informality.

Above: In the interior of Tres Agaves, the architects created a gabion wall.

Above: Tres Agaves' long wooden bar is made from oak.

Above: For Elizabeth Falkner's Mission District lounge Orson, the architects created a two-tier space within a historic SOMA warehouse building.

Above: Concrete walls and steel beams painted gray maintain the industrial vibe.
