The design duo behind Studio Gorm–John Ardnt and Wonhee Jeong–met while studying at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. They set up a studio in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, before moving to Eugene, Oregon, where they teach in the product design program at the University of Oregan. Their products feature a minimalist sensibility crossed with a humorous streak; we particularly like their take on lighting.
Above: The Plug/Lamp “celebrates the humble beauty of the extension cord.” The minimal frame supports the lamp in various positions by holding the cord like a cleat, and the hook on the shade enables you to hang it where you need it. The Plug Lamp is available in limited runs for $300.
Above: The Pole Lamp is “a freestanding lamp with a shade that can be positioned at any height”; the lamp is in production and is not yet on the market.
