Above: The 3-foot-tall Modern Tannenbaum Tree from Minneapolis-based Silver Cocoon is made of cedar with basswood dowels; disassembles easily for storage. $255 from Silver Cocoon's Etsy Shop (a 7-foot-high Modern Tannenbaum Tree is $450). The foldable Acrylic Ornaments range from $3 to $15 each.
Above: Designed by architect Richard Babcock, who was “tired of finding, hauling, displaying, watering, and disposing of the bulky, needle-dropping, space-guzzling evergreen every Christmas,” the cherry or birch PossibiliTree is available in a 2- or 3-foot tabletop model or a 6-foot-tall suspended version. Prices are $160 for the 2-foot tabletop model, $195 for the 3-foot tabletop model, and $290 for the 6-foot suspended model. Handmade by a family-owned company in Minnesota that uses reclaimed (or "deadfall") wood whenever possible.
