I was trying to see these colors online and ran into this RAL colour card.

Naturally it's impossible to "see" colors on the screen, but I wonder what the RAL system is about?
I love the deep colors in a high gloss finish. It almost gives a metallic feel. The shine gives a great contrast to the matte sufaces.
I used this brand on my front doors and it is very good stuff. I chose the lower lustre black and was recommended to use this beause I had doors made in poplar (bad, bad choice for exterior doors). I was told that this paint would really protect the doors and last 3 times as long as your standard Benjamin Moore. Fine Paints of Europe has a thicker consistency than other paints and you need to be careful to paint before the temperature drops too much. The persimmon colored high gloss lacquer above is amazing.
While I am not an expert on the RAL color system, I did find their home website that should answer any and all questions regarding its origins. Go to www.ral.de/en/ral_farben/home/index.php
I hope this is helpful.
