Architect Visit: Poteet Architects in San Antonio, Texas

Issue 7 · Equine Accents · February 18, 2011

After graduating from Yale and receiving a Masters in Architecture from the University of Texas, Jim Poteet returned to his hometown of San Antonio, where he opened his office "with the hope of furthering the sustainable revitalization of downtown San Antonio." The practice has won national recognition for its sensitive adaptive reuse of existing buildings and a fresh, rigorous approach to modern interior design. To see more of the firm's work, go to Poteet Architects on the Remodelista Architect/Designer Directory.

For a San Antonio artist, Poteet created a guest house/garden retreat/playhouse using a reclaimed steel shipping container. Poteet added glass doors and windows, heating and air-conditioning, a green roof, and bamboo flooring and wallcovering.
