Chicago-based Wheeler Kearns recently completed this second home and artist's studio set on eight acres of rolling Indiana farmland. "The scale, siting, and design vocabulary are rooted in the vernacular," they say. "Communal spaces are wrapped with floor-to-ceiling window walls, affording long views of the open meadows. The simple forms, materials (painted wood siding, concrete floors, douglas fir plywood), and modest scale are complementary and consistent with the program and place of this humble project." great use of steel! hope you can find a source for the pendant lights, love those.
Love the ply on the ceiling. Everything else is pretty sweet as well.
It's projects like this that keep my dream alive for a cluster of "modern cabins" on a secluded plot off the beaten path. Thanks for fueling our dreams.
