Architect Visit: Bernardo Urquieta in San Francisco

Currently on the market in San Francisco, a 1902 Victorian house remodeled in the mid-1980s by Chilean-born Bay Area architect Bernardo Urquieta. The firm created a bright, open interior with lofty ceilings of exposed plywood and timbers, interior wall openings, carefully placed skylights, and partial walls—the project looks remarkably fresh and modern 20 years later.

Beautiful. Love the doors opening onto a patio/balcony! Colors are very soothing as well.

I love old Villa's being completely opened up to explore the original architecture. Fearon Hay in New Zealand does this superbly. They don't have their villas on their website yet www.fearonhay.com, but perhaps Remodelista could find some.
