From Julie
A while back, we featured Leonards Antiques, based in Seekonk, MA (they recently opened another store in Westport, CT), a family-owned workshop that specializes in antiques and reproduction furniture. Their specialty is resizing antique beds to accommodate contemporary-sized mattresses (including king size). We just read in the Providence Journal that White House decorator Michael S. Smith recently requested a selection of beds from Leonards for the Obamas to choose from. Last week, the store delivered their choice—an 1820s tall-post tiger maple bed (almost identical to the one shown below), resized as a king—to their new quarters at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Somehow we find this deeply fascinating.

It IS deeply fascinating and I appreciate knowing every detail about Michael Smith's plan for the White House! Thanks for feeding my curiosity even further.
It is exciting to have such a young, vibrant family in the White House.
