An Urban Surf Shack in San Francisco

October 17, 2012

A visit to the beach house of Outerlands owners Dave Muller and Lana Porcello, courtesy of Wayfare Magazine:

On the outskirts of San Francisco's Sunset District, Muller and Porcello live with their daughter in an urban version of a surf shack. “Before we opened Outerlands, our friends and neighbors gathered in our tiny backyard for whatever we were serving up through our kitchen window,” says Lana. The house, located right off the beach, packs a lot of sustainable design: from a driftwood deck to a reclaimed-fence-wood greenhouse that shelters greens and herbs before they find their way into the restaurant’s dishes and cocktails.
