10 Easy Pieces: Modern Dining Tables and Benches

Dining tables paired with benches create an appealing sense of community and informality; here's a roundup of modern favorites.

Above: Made of solid English walnut, the Mash Studios LAX Edge Dining Table features a white-powder coated detail (visible at the top of each leg) and measures 72 by 36 inches; $1,250. Above: Cisco Brothers Cobalt Dining Table is a reclaimed wood dining table that measures a generous 120 inches long and 31 inches wide and costs $2,325; the matching Cobalt Long Dining Bench is 84 inches in length and costs $1,550 through Cisco. Above: A good budget option is the Bjursta Extendable Dining Table with two extra leaves for $89.99 and the Bjursta Bench for $89.99; both at Ikea.

Above: On the other end of the spectrum is the high-end Cappellini Hope Dining Table and Hope Dining Bench designed by Italian architect Claudio Silvestrin. The 124-inch-long table and 62-inch-long bench are available in a choice of solid woods (including cedarwood) and five varieties of walnut; $6,476 for the table and $2,952 for the bench at Unica Home.
