10 Easy Pieces: Stainless Kitchen Sinks

From Janet

When it comes to the kitchen, we favor single bowl, undermount sinks, the deeper the better (preferably spacious enough to accomodate a dinner party's worth of dirty dishes). Stainless sinks are favored by professionals for their durability and functionality; for home use, look for models with noise reduction features.

Franke Prof Series PSX Sinnk

Above: Francesca's favorite sink is the spacious Franke Professional Series (PSX 110.30.12). At 12 inches deep, it’s great for hiding a dinner party’s worth of dishes; $1,439 at AJ Madison (other depths and sizes available).Franke PPX Sink

Above: We also like the Franke Planar Zero Radius Sinks (PPX 110309-12). The perfectly square corners provide more room and clean geometric look; $949 at AJ Madison.

Blanco Precision 512747

Above: We like the square corners and crisp profile of Blanco's Precision Single Bowl 32-Inch Undermount Sink (model 512747); $939 at AJ Madison.

Above: Or consider the low-profile Kohler Verity Apron Front Stainless Sink (K-3086-NA); 33 by 20 by 8 inches; $849.12 at eFaucets.

Above: Elkay's Avado Undermount Sink in 16-gauge stainless steel (with sound insulatiion). The bowl is 10 inches deep and measures 28 by 16 inches; $1,113 at Plumbers Surplus.

Above: Serious utility enters the kitchen with the Moen Lancelot Sink (22362), featuring state-of-the-art noise reduction; 29 by 16 by 10 inches, $629.02 at Plumbers Surplus.

Above: Super Chefhaus Rectangular Stainless Sink by Whitehaus; 32 by 21 inches; $1,039 at Every Faucet.

 Kohler Stages Sink

Above: Kohler's new Stage 33-Inch Sink (K3760) features a large, deep basin, offering ample room for cleaning large pots and pans, while the stepped side platform provides an additional workspace. A wide range of accessories designed to enhance the sink's functionality is available. The sink retails for $1,050, but is currently available for $609 at WSC Direct.

Above: An affordable option is the Kindred (made by Franke) Single Basin Sink QSU1831/8N; $251.30 at Faucet Direct.

Blanco Extra Deep Magnum Sink

Above: If you're looking for a super-sized sink, consider Blanco's Magnum 12-inch Extra Deep Large SIngle Bowl Undermount Sink (#440300); $964.60 at Every Faucet.

We have a Vermont soapstone sink -- not the Wright, but the single-piece-handcarved one. LOVE it. (they gave it to us for the same price after glancing at my very-pregnant belly and seeing our licence plate...from Canada).

A very spacious and nice design sinks. We used to have marble sinks but recently during the refurbishment, we have also changed to stainless steel sink which is very nice comparatively.

We have a large rectangular stainless sink with square corners. While I like the look of it, it is not easy to clean and the rather flat bottom tends to hold crumbs unless you push them to the drain. The sink is beautiful, but not practical.

IKEA has just released the BREDSKÄR, another affordable option at $249.

Lovely selection. That Moen might not be the sexiest but it works oh so well.

The Ticor SS3510 Undermount 16-Gauge Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink is much more affordable than the majority you mention. It is well rated, has a sound dampening system and comes in single bowl sizes. I love it as it accommodates my canning kettle easily, not to mention my myriad baking vessels.
