Living In Color Photo: Brian Park
There’s nothing shy about Ellen Hamilton’s warm, welcoming and vivid spaces, where her distinctive, painterly use of color defines modern family living spaces. The color washes over rooms grounded by French or English antiques, but in which Hamilton’s clear-eyed modern sensibilities are never hidden.
Greens and reds, stripes and florals companion freshly together in fabrics and finishes, providing a perfect environment for family heirlooms, custom pieces, and antiques. Ellen’s high level of personal service and attention to detail is reflected in her work for clients both in and out of the public eye. Belle, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Home Observer, New York Spaces, Traditional Home, House & Garden and Robb Report have all featured Ellen’s work, and she has been consistently among New York Spaces Top 50 Names You Need to Know in Metro New York Design. Ellen has also been featured in Restoring a House in the City by Ingrid Abramovitch (Abrams, 2009).
She founded Hamilton Design Associates in 1986 after working for leading New York architecture and residential interior design firms Peter Marino Architects and FXFowle Architects.
