Formerly known as DeWitt Design Studios, Hwang DeWitt, Inc. is a small multi–disciplinary Architecture and Design studio, focusing on creating well conceived residential spaces, either working within an existing structure or starting from scratch. Architect Alice Hwang, and Designer Chad DeWitt have combined their technical and creative skill sets with 25+ years of experience working with residential clients.

We hold the following beliefs:

Incorporation of the California Lifestyle into our designs, with its indoor/outdoor living including, cooking, dining and socializing resulting in open plan and multi-function casual spaces.

With our designs, we strive for clean lines, simplicity, and clarity of vision and intent. We recommend natural, sustainable finishes, that are high in quality, and low in pretension.

Our work should reflect the personality of the client, rather than dictated by our portfolio. We spend extra time understanding how a client will live in and use a space, rather than just focusing on a wish list and programmatic requirements.

Supporting local craftsmen and suppliers, believing their products to be superior in quality, and also contributing to the local economy.

We believe that environmental considerations are everyone’s responsibility, and we include them as part of our everyday thinking, not only by special request.

Los Altos Modern. With a focus on textures and tactility, we added a level of sophistication and character to the project with items such as the custom teak door, urban harvested walnut veneer cabinetry, and shower surrounds made from reclaimed post-industrial scrap limestone.
