About
“You either have the ‘interiors’ thing going on or you don’t.” —Terry Castle, in “Home Alone,” Atlantic Monthly, March 06
We care (OK, we care a LOT) about design in our lives. We race to the current issues of shelter magazines. We have certain friends whose style we admire and whose ideas we’re always looking to appropriate (i.e. steal). We wake up in the middle of the night to bid on eBay for a set of Thonet dining chairs (see below).

Remodelista® is for interiors aficionados who share the same design DNA: a genetically encoded aesthetic. You know who you are: You’re not the type to hire an interior designer: you’re not about to outsource your decor, and you don’t want a sterile, magazine-perfect environment.
We are a group of friends who share eerily similar design sensibilities. After years of midnight design consultations, back and forth emails about the merits of a particular kitchen sink, and new store alerts, we decided to create an online design forum for sharing our ideas.
Most of our friends appreciate good design but don’t have the time (or the maniacal drive) to obsess about the details. Many welcome (beg for) guidance when it comes to putting together interiors. So we’re making it easy for our similarly inclined readers by offering an edited, screened, preapproved selection of design ideas.
Our blog has two components:
THE BLOG ROLL: HOME ACCESSORIES AND SHOPPING SECRETS
This is where we post short shopping stories, great finds, and ideas for putting together beautiful, functional, unfussy interiors. We scour the internet and our neighborhoods (Brooklyn, Manhattan, San Francisco, London) in search of finds you won’t see elsewhere.

10 EASY PIECES: REMODELING GUIDE
We’ve also created a streamlined home remodeling guide, 10 Easy Pieces, offering our opinionated (OK, bossy) ideas on the best faucets, the best sinks, the best bathroom hooks. Our combined experience includes a dozen remodels, so we’ve pooled our knowledge and compiled lists of our greatest hits. You’ll find our top ten picks in kitchen categories such as sinks, faucets, ranges, counter stools, and more.

And in the bathroom, we sort through the daunting array of choices for the best in bathtubs, sinks, faucets, and shower valves.

If you’re design savvy, you’ll realize that we have done the hard work for you. If you’re a neophyte, you can’t go wrong.
Whether you’re embarking on the grueling marathon known as the remodel or simply looking for a Design Voyeur Fix, we invite you to peruse our offerings.
If you have suggestions for retailers, products, architects or designers we should investigate, please send us a note at Feedback@Remodelista.com.
