Steal This Look: Stainless Steel Kitchen

From Janet:

Not all stainless kitchens are cold, antiseptic, and institutional. This Brooklyn kitchen (featured in New York Magazine) shows how stainless can be paired with warm materials, like rustic wooden floor boards, to create a hard-working, homey space.

The owner didn’t want a large refrigerator dominating the room, so she chose small undercounter refrigerator units:

Appliances: Gaggenau First Professionals

From Janet:

Recently, Dwell clued us in to an interesting proposition. German appliance maker Gaggenau is pursuing the youth market, offering a significant cost savings with a suite of five stainless-steel appliances for $15,000, which is substantially less than what you would pay if you purchased the elements individually (a 23 percent savings). What do you get? A 30-inch convection oven (see our earlier story on this product here), a 36-inch-wide refrigerator, a 36-inch cooktop (gas or electric) with ventilation hood, and a 24-inch-wide dishwasher. Go to gaggenau-usa.com to locate a dealer.
