Applicances: Sharp Microwave Drawer
February 7th, 2008
From Sarah:
I recently spotted this at a friend’s house and thought it a brilliant solution: tucking the microwave below the counter, far out of sight. The standalone Sharp microwave drawer comes ready for installation and is available in a 24- and 30-inch size. It’s approximately $800, depending on the model; for more information, go to sharpusa.com.

So glad you like this microwave! We have decided to use it in our remodel and weren’t sure if we liked the look of it. Somehow it looks nicer in your post than what we have seen - maybe because it is a white one rather than stainless?? Hard to tell from the picture.
Dacor also has a microwave drawer (with the same guts by Sharp) that is much sleeker looking but only at 30″ wide and at a much higher price. We are hoping that Sharp brings out a less clunky version by the time we are ready to buy. We have read internet rumors to this effect but who knows?
We have been waffling back and forth on this appliance versus another which will affect the layout of the kitchen. We are so bad at making decisions! This gives an extra point to the Sharp.
Love your site. I’m looking at some lever hardware that you recommended. Keep up the good work.
