Fabrics and Linens: St. Jude’s Modern British

From Sarah:

Norfolk–based gallery St.Judes specializes in British art, craft, and design; we love their retro-ish fabrics, which are printed in short runs and are available online. The North London Victorian skyline was the inspiration for Kensal Rising, a charming print designed by the owners of Old Town (another Norfolk-based company that makes “rag- and bone-man dodging original” British workwear in traditional fabrics).

Kitchen: Icestone

From Francesca

Brooklyn-based IceStone, founded by Miranda Magagnini and Peter Strugatz (both former eco-friendly socially responsible venture capitalists), is the first durable surface to receive the McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC)’s Cradle to Cradle certification. Using super green practices, such as soy-based machine lubricants and day lighting, the company recycles 2.6 million pounds of glass a year in its Brooklyn factory. The finished products are as strong as granite but not as porous as marble, making them ideal for kitchen counters, bathroom surfaces, and flooring. View the range at icestone.biz:
