Lighting: Nauset Lantern Shop

December 25th, 2007

From Julie:

In an exciting development, we have a new porch light in Wellfleet, which replaces a nasty hardware-store fixture from the mid-seventies. I swerved into the Nauset Lantern Shop on a whim and discovered this hand-made pewter and brass onion ceiling lamp with hand-blown glass orb:

For the past fifty years, the shop has been making faithful reproductions of nautical, mission, and colonial light fixtures that feature a charmingly imperfect look; unfortunately the website at Nauset Lantern Shop does not do justice to their offerings. All models are available in copper, brass, or pewter. The Wellfleet wall lantern in pewter is well worth investigating; one of the best outdoor fixtures I’ve seen.
