Return of the Chesterfield Sofa

TUFTED SOFAS AND TUFTED CHAIRS

From Sarah:

This past summer, on my annual trip back to the UK, I noted a profusion of plush, grand Chippendale and Chesterfield sofas in fashionable venues. Seems the tufted sofa trend is crossing the pond. Note the ornate carved sofa featured in the otherwise minimalist interiors in the Architect Visit post below. And last week, the NY Times wrote about the proliferation of gentleman’s club style in NYC; here in San Francisco, the newly opened restaurant Fish and Farm, designed by Sheri Sheridan of Swallowtail, features a wraparound Chesterfield banquette:

Architect Visit: Messana O’Rorke

MANHATTAN LOFT REMODEL

From Julie:

We begin a series of posts on architects we admire. First up, the office of Messana O’Rorke; view their work at messanaororke.com. We are especially enamored of the Storefront Loft, a project for an achingly hip art collecting couple in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
